2009 is coming. And while this New Year everyone is more concern about the Global Economy and Crude Oil rates rather than what dress to wear for that New Year party you have decided to go, “Its Resolution Time” nonetheless.
I will take up my personal goals with respect to hobbies and online identity in my personal site Thinkjayant.com I would try to list down my Professional Online Goals for 2009.
SMART GOALS
Before we begin, lets analyze the characteristics of a good goal or rather a SMART GOAL.
S – S stands for Specific. You goals should be define specifically without any vagueness in them. Avoid terms which are relative. Avoid complex terms and keep it simple. If getting more RSS subscribers is your aim, then set goals like “Achieving 1000 RSS Subscriber” rather than “Achieving very high umber of Subscribers”
M – M stands for Measurable. The goals you define should be easy to measure with a reference standard. Hence, it is advisable to use absolute numbers which can be counted and observed easily. If you aim at getting high rank in Google SERP, then set goals like “Get into top 3 result for so-so keyword”
A – A stands for Attainable. Do not aim for the sky at one shot. There are no escalators of lifts in the way to Online Stardom. Its a staircase and that too a long one. Stop dreaming about jumping to the top floor and rather start counting each stairs as you climb.
R – R stands for Realistic. Walk before you run. Don’t dream of achieving star status in one year. Make is more realistic. Rather aim for addition in a blogger network, create a good number of blogger contacts in social networks etc.
T – T stands for Time Bound. This is the most important part. While your goals can be good and to the point, it should also be bonded by time. Keep a habit of reevaluating (i.e. increasing or decreasing the limit) or your goals by periodically checking it.

That’s a very motivating article – just in time for the new year resolution. Last year I resolved to get the six pack abs I always wanted and with determination and hard work I achieved that. Now, I want to pass on my knowledge of success to others. So this coming year I plan to have my own website – well designed and well indexed in all search engines – for the benefit of the community.
Happy New Year to you and your readers!
Very good article but man you are going to be a very busy man next year I hope you take a 2 week vacation during xmas before starting that 2009 work. But it did inspire me on a few points where I want to be more active and I love the way you write things down so it makes it look easy
Thanks for this article, it has helped me write down my own goals (see my blog)
