Adding your Site to Bing.com search Engine

Adding site to Bing.com is very easy. Also you gain from the importance its team is currently giving to research, chances are your site would get index really fast provided it have good content. To add you site to Bing.com, simply head over to the following Web Address and enter your Sit’s details.

http://www.bing.com/webmaster/WebmasterAddSitesPage.aspx

Login with your Live Id or any Microsoft Id and fill up the Site URL, Sitemap URL and Webmaster Contact Email.

Note: It is better to keep a XML Sitemap of your Blog/Site ready before you submit your site.

Authenticate Ownership of your Blog

Next and final step in the process is to verify with Bing.com that you are the owner of the Blog by authenticating your Blog with them. This can be done in two ways.

1. XML Verification

You can download the XML file generated and upload it to your root folder of the site (not your Domain Host).

2. Meta Tag Verification

Alternatively you can add Meta Tag to your Head Section of the Blog (generally header.php in WordPress, but may vary depending on the theme).

Once done, you would be verified by Bing.com as a Webmaster of the Blog/Site you are registering for and the site will be added to the index.

Adding a Sitemap to your WordPress Blog

A sitemap defines the structure of your Blog. It also helps you define the weights to be assigned to individual webpages of your site. Although some Webmaster argue there feasibility, I would say creating a XML Sitemap is beneficial for your site.

If you are using WordPress (which you should) as your Blogging Software, try a free plugin called Google XML Sitemap which makes creating XML Sitemaps and assigning Weights to different elements of the Blog very easy.
