The following are the four main Onsite SEO Elements in the order of their importance

Domain Name (Keyword rich)

Title Tag (for individual webpages)

Internal Link Structure

Alt Tag (in links and images)

I am going to keep this post very short and point to point. Title is one of the most important part of Onsite SEO, so you better don’t screw it. Some example of Bad Page Titles are

http://www.example.com/category/yada-yada-yada (Yes sir, NO title at all)

So without further waiting, here are the tips:

1. Keyword Rich Title Tag

Use Keyword Rich Title Tags. Make sure you use the primary keyword related to the article in the Title Tag. It is very important to not ignore this. It tells the Search Engine Robots what to look for in the Web Page.

2. Proximity Factor

Try to get the Keyword as near to the Start of Title Tag as possible. This is also known as the Proximity Factor. Just as you try to write the main Keywords for a Webpage as closer to the Start as possible, here also try to use it as closer to the Start as possible. For example, you want to list “Good Blog Names” example, then write “Good Blog Name Examples” rather than “Examples of Good Blog Name”. Note: if you want to target the keyword “Examples for Good Blog Names” then you choose the other option.

3. Long Tail Keyword

Apart from the Main Keyword, use your words to form a Long Tail Keyword. A long tail keyword are atlast 3-4 wrds long. So frame accordingly. Taking the previous example, we can take “Good Blog Names” and use it into something like “Good Blog Names Examples for a New Blog” or soemthing like that.

4. Avoid Meaningless Titles

Avoid long and meaningless titles. The Title Tag should hold a meaning to the Content it is presenting. To both your Visitor and the Search Engine it is important. Avoid titles like “What do you think is the process of something something blah blah”. It won’t help you give any SEO advantage bu also, for visitors its way too long and irritating.

5. Avoid non Keyword worthy Words

Avoid using too much of “the,a,an,of” and similar Non Keywords Worthy words as they reduce the value of the other Keywords. That said dont neglect the Visitor’s Prespective when forming the Title Tag. Search Engine Robots will Filter out these words but the Text should not be inelligible to the normal eyes.

6. Avoid Repetition

Avoid Repetition of Words in the Title Tag. Use it only if you can not do without it. The Search Engine Robot will see nly the Words iin singularity and in bunches. So repitition would still be counted as one unless it forms a part of long tail keyword.

7. Avoid Category/Tag Names

Putting Category names and Tag names in the Blog Title is bad idea. You are without knowing stuffing keywords in your Title Tag. Branding is important but really, but what you are doing is affecting the Recall Value of the visitors with respect to individual posts.

8. Put Site Name at the End

It is common practice to use the “|” separator to Display your Blog Name in the Title Tag. Although I am not a supporter of this practice, but it is used so widely that the change has caught on. However, avoid using your Site Name at the Beginning of Title Tag. If you do, you are hurting your Search Engine Rankings. Also, I am assuming you Site Name is not more than 3 Words, else use a Short Form.

9. Don’t Complicate Things

Finally, it is important for you to not complicate things. Don’t try to do too much in one Title Tag. Don’t try to cater to 5 different Keywords in one Title Tag. In case of any queries, please ask me via comments.

Have a nice Day..!!
