StumbleUpon announced an URL Shortner Service called SU.PR which has the Real time Stats and StumbleUpon Toolbar features built in along with the ability to post on Twitter and Facebook.

Http://su.pr – will take you to StumblesUpon’s private Beta for the upcoming Stumbleupon URL Shortner Service. However its not just any other URL Shortner. It adds StumbleUpon Toolbar features right into it. It is currently into private Beta Stage s you would have to request access and wait for it. Once access is granted and you can create a seperate account or us your existing StumblUpon username to login into it.

You can create a short version of your URL plus you can also

Post it on Twitter and Facebook with a short Message

Schedule to automatically post at a certain time

See stats about your link in Real time from your Su.pr account

But what most important change from other URL shortner services is that, when a user clicks on the SU.pr link, they are presented with the webpage which includes the StumbleUpon Tolbar. So in short they are encouraged to Like, Dislike, Stumble, Favorite and Comment on the Webpage.

In short SU.pr seems like a great service for StumbleUpon to get additional traffic via services like Twwiter where URL shortner are craze. However, lets hope StumbleUpon does not do the same mistake DiggBar did.

StumbleUpon is currently looking for Spanish, German and French Translators. Upon implementation in these languages, they would further extent it to more local languages. If you are interested in contributing to the act, Click Here. The group members will target each section, beginning with FAQs. Once the translation is done and found accurate, it would be incorporated.

Its a nice chance to help the community. Try it.

Between StumbleUpon, Digg and Delicious; I always favored StumbleUpon as it has an edge over bringing new media and sites to the visitor. Digg and Delicious are rather using push strategy where visitor try to discover more and more stuff in its niche, while StumbleUpon gives them a ncie oppurtunity to try other niches.

Let’s hope StumbleUpon comes up with more innovative features and do not follow the controversial path like its competitor Digg (aka the taboo Digg Toolbar).
